History

Ancient Ones:

A few millennia passed and the first beings, known as the Ancient Ones, started to roam the planet we call Aurora. Aurora’s twin, Astrid, had yet to form any conscious life. The Ancient Ones were beings of great power, being born of Aurora’s soil they found themselves capable of incredible feats. They would go on to bend the laws of the universe to their whims, shaping Aurora for better or worse. It wasn’t long before the Ancient Ones started to quarrel over resources, and soon numbers that once blossomed in the thousands were reduced to a dwindling 13. These remaining Ancients bore children that would carry on their legacy and hopefully learn from the mistakes of their elders. Leaving Aurora to their children, the Ancients went into hiding. Some stayed on the planet - carving out palaces deep within; on the peaks of the tallest mountains; in the sky - far beyond realms any mortal could reach. Other Ancients moved on to colonize Astrid, finding that the sister planet had developed its own life cycles and causing a war that would last eons.

Ascended:

The children of the Ancients would come to be known as the Ascended. They were the first of the Hollis The beings of Aurora, all generations born from the Ancient Ones. and capable of almost everything an Ancient was. There is no question that the Ascended are the gods of Aurora. These gods would give birth to the rest of life as we know it.

Heirs:

Immensely powerful beings, several times stronger than your average Auroran and several times weaker than an Ascended. We speculate the first born children of the Ascended would fit in this category but modern history has no records of any such beings. Though, there are a few mythical heroes throughout time whose feats would seem impossible in modern times.


Geography

Aurora is broken up into three major continents: The Northern Isles, The Central Empire, and Dragon’s Peak.

The Nothern Isles lie on the North Pole of Aurora and despite this, the continent still enjoys a diverse environment due to the sub-atmosphere that was created when the land was ejected from the oceans by the Ancient’s War long ago. The N.I. remains suspended in mid-air, and has for centuries. This has made the continent virtually impenetrable from assault. Thus the Northern Isles has experienced relative peace from the outside world, that however has not prevented them from being plagued by infighting amongst the self-governing tribes that call this continent home.

The Central Empire is the largest continent of Aurora, it spans the equator and has the most diverse biomes. This continent is home to the technologically advanced, highly militaristic nation called Pyron. Some islands have managed to escape the control of Pyron, others have not been so lucky.

Dragon's Peak spans the South Pole of Aurora, and is ruled by a council of elder dragons which is overseen by an elected head warrior. This continent is home to all of the Dragonkin of Aurora. Diversity fills the land, sea and air of Dragon's Peak. Each Dragonkin boasts aetherical control and reserves unmatched by other species and they do not shy from flaunting it.


Races

Aurora's races are broken up into some major categories: Dragonkin, Beastkin, Furless, Aquatickin, Avaiankin, Slimekin, Subterraniankin, Sebas A fully sentient robot species, native to Aurora. , and Omin A celestial race native to Aurora. . Each category (except for sebas and omin) has 3 breakdowns: -kin, -ling, -less. Aka: Dragonkin, Dragonling, Scaleless. Beastkin, Beastling, Furless, and so on. -kin are full blooded versions of the species. -lings are missing some traits, and -less are usually without a defining feature, like fur, scales, slime or feathers.

For Dragonkin this means they have all the features of a dragon. Dragonlings may be lacking certain features, like wings, tails, etc. Scaleless are still dragons but lack scales, they may lack any number of other features as well, and may appear almost entirely ‘human-like’ except for their anatomical structure. Especially among the dragonkin there is class superiority for being closer to full-blooded and bodied.

Applying the logic for -kin, -lings, and -less to Beasts means that a Beastkin would be bipedal or quadrapedal (or other), and they would have all the features of that specific species - claws, tail, specific ear type, etc. Whereas Furless would have no fur, and are usually lacking most other or all other characteristics of a beastkin, tail, ears, specific teeth, etc. And a Beastling would be a mix of the two.

Otherworlders - these are individuals who have isekai'ed to Aurora (or arrived by some other means). The process of getting to Aurora after death is called Eclipsing The grueling process of being reborn on Aurora. - your energy / consciousness / soul travels a 'ley line' these ley lines can go to any planet that allows outside aether, but Aurora is one of the possible destinations. When you enter Aurora's atmosphere, your will power will determine whether you burn up in the atmopshere or are successfully recreated on Aurora. Humans from Earth to Aurora are generally stronger / heartier / and live a long time compared to natives. Species from other universes may not enjoy the same perks though. Notably differences between Aurorans and otherworlders depend on the otherworlder's home planet's condition compared to Aurora.

Attunements

Attunements are the subcategory or element of aether a person can manipulate. If a person has control over lightning, they are lightning attuned. In AoA there are 4 major categories of aether that can be manipulated: Space, Matter, Energy, and Life Energy. These major categories are broken down into several subcategories, these subcategories break down into individual elements. The major categories only exist as a reference for grouping similar aether types. Individual users of aether attune to a subcategory, not a major cateogry.

In the Major category Energy, it contains Light, General Energy and Air. Light is broken down even further into light, shadow and a few others. Matter has Earth, which could be dirt, stone, sand, wood, etc. Life Energy tends to fall into a grey area, where meta-physical and physical meet, but includes things like psyche energy, life and decay, etc.

Most users of aether are attuned to two subcategories, while rarely a powerful individual may attune to three, of those subcategories a user usually only attunes to up to five elements.
